Toddler Won’t Sleep? Learn How To Easily Get Your Toddler To Bed
What is guaranteed to drive your toddler crazy? Three little words, “It’s bed time”! These words are guaranteed to turn any toddler into a argumentative little being. If you’re a parent whose toddler won’t sleep, you know exactly what I mean. So what can you do to get that toddler to sleep? Instead of standing there pulling out your hair, I have some useful tips to offer to get that toddler into bed time mode. These tips have been successfully used by parents for many years, however not all all them will work on every toddler.
Keep your toddler busy while he’s awake. Those of you who have toddlers in your life know that they are always full of energy. Take your toddler to a playground or let him run around the garden so that he can burn off that extra energy. Think back when you were a child, didn’t you enjoy doing things, such as playing out doors?
Of course your toddler can’t be outside all the time, so keep him busy with toys indoors.
Select a bedtime to suit your toddler and stick to it. Children are just like adults, they have distinct sleep times. Some are morning people, while others are night owls. While you will be able to control this to some point, if your child does not seem to be tired at 7:00 pm, then you should look towards a later bedtime. For a child that is falling asleep over his dinner plate, then you can choose an earlier bedtime. Try this and you’ll soon find bedtime becomes a breeze!
If your toddler is still taking naps during the day time, but is having trouble when it comes to sleeping at night time, then you should cut down on his nap time.
Perhaps you feel your toddler still needs his rest during the day? Just let him have a quiet rest period in his room instead of a sleep. This will refresh and re-energise him until it’s time for bed.
Have a bedtime routine and stick to it! It’s very easy to get off track so this may take a bit of effort at first. Begin the routine straight after dinner and don’t deviate from it. In the end, if your toddler won’t sleep after despite having a routine, offer a warm glass of milk before bedtime. Don’t give your child any type of sleep medication, no matter how mild. This will inevitably lead to more serious sleep problems down the track.
On an ending note, safety is always the key; if your afraid of your child wandering, then attach a loud bell to the bedroom door knob!.
